Hi,

I hope you are doing well. In today’s short “Here’s an idea worth playing with”, I share some thoughts about stocks and flows. Stocks being the work we’re paid to do, the creative projects we want to get done, building a house, or tending to a garden, or nurturing our kids. Things that last the test of time and are things we want to bring to life and focus on.

Flows are social media, emails, status updates, yammer posts etc etc. They are ephemeral. They can get lost in the river of flow. They are not, ultimately, adding the same value as stocks. Stocks live on. The flow flows by. Yet, in today’s attention capital world, it can be easy to get lost in the flow - and miss out on the stocks. Even at work!
