The Manager - Edition 29 - from Rob Lambert
Cultivated Management Newsletter - Edition 26
Hi,
I hope you've had an amazing weekend and looking forward to the week ahead.
I've got some interesting projects coming up this year, including Podcasts, Videos and a few more conferences. I hope they'll hit the spot with you and provide epic value. I'm certainly having fun creating them.
Rob..
Here's what I've been reading - I think these will be interesting for you :
1 - Compassion has been found to be a trait that Leaders need in order to lead amazing teams. I cannot help but agree. People choose to follow a leader. Few people choose to follow someone who doesn't care. Some do though.
2 - Why sitting down is so bad for you. When I use my standing desk I always feel better and I get less back ache. It's just so tempting to sit down all day. Must create a better habit.
3 - Curiosity is a great way to impress in an interview. Couldn't agree more with this. Anyone who doesn't ask questions in an interview is missing a chance to show their curiosity and interest. It's always a bad sign for me when there are no questions, or the only questions are related to working hours and pay.
4 - Every single product I've worked on and helped to build has stored customer data. A question I've always asked through the design stages is how do our clients/customers remove their data from the system or should it expire? Being able to remove yourself from systems is becoming an increasingly interesting topic.
5 - It looks like Glastonbury could be coming to our living rooms via VR - it's an interesting future for VR. As a technologist I often wonder how VR will impact the way we build and test products. Will VR allow us to collaborate, work closer together and build better products? How could our products benefit from VR? Big questions.
6 - Love this about making mistakes from John Cleese - "gain the confidence to contribute spontaneously to what’s happening". Interesting article.
Thanks for reading this week's edition of The Manager.
Thanks
Rob..
