Bringing positive energy and emptiness before the end - Cultivated Management newsletter
Hi,
Hope you've had a good week. This week's been pretty hectic for me. I was over in our Polish office at the start of the week doing a couple of communication workshops. I love visiting our Polish office, it's like a mini start-up. Then I was back to the UK office for 1:1s, meetings and more strategy.
It made me realise that an important part of any managers role is to bring energy to the team, even when you're shattered. Positive energy will rub off on others. As too will negative energy. A manager ensures they have a positive contagious effect on others, even when they may not feel like it.
If you're not naturally a high energy person then you must acknowledge that and bring energy in other ways, even if that energy comes from someone else. Energy is the life blood of our work place. All companies need energy to succeed, and good managers bring bucket loads of it.
Book of the week
This week I've been reading a fun book by Todd Henry. It's a few years old now but still a good read. It's called "Die Empty: Unleash Your Best Work Every Day" and it's a story about creativity.
Todd's main point is that you need to ship all of that work that is inside you before you die. Sounds somber but it's spot on. We only have so long on the planet and we no doubt have work we want to ship; books, stories, music, software etc. Our goal in life is to ship work. Lots of it.
"Brilliant work is forged by those who consistently approach their days with urgency and diligence"

Cultivated Community Foundation
Each year I donate 10% of all revenue to charitable organisations. Each year 5% goes to Naomi House, as my core charity, the other 5% went to Pencils Of Promise, a charity that brings education to children in Africa.
Thank you so much for your support. This year I am donated 5% to Naomi House as usual, and 5% to WWF. You can find out more on my Foundation page.
Until next time..
