This week on Cultivated Management
Howdy,
Welcome to the Cultivated Management newsletter. I've been pretty quiet on here for a while. It's because I've taken a new role!
I've made the shift from Dev Management to heading up the Employee Engagement and Enablement within the company. How exciting!
I'm also putting together the final pieces of a book which should be out in the next couple of months - I'll give you more notice nearer the time. It's a book about becoming a manager!
As I've moved from Dev to HR I posted a final thoughts style post on LinkedIn about how to thrive as a software tester - my previous career before management. It contains a lot of knowledge and insights that are useful no matter what industry you're in.

My book recommendation for you this week is "11 Rings" by Phil Jackson. It chronicles the career of Phil Jackson, legendary NBA (Basketball) coach who won 11 national titles in his career managing The Chicago Bulls (with Michael Jordan and Scotty Pippen) and LA Lakers with Shaq.
It's a great read if you're a basketball fan, but it's also a great read for anyone managing teams of high performers or arrogant producers. You know, the kind of people who deliver but often with management challenges and baggage. It's a long read, but it holds many insights. I'll leave you with a quote from it:
"My job as a coach or manager is to make the mind numbing boredom meaningful."
It's on Amazon now.
Enjoy.
Until next time.
Rob..
